Acqiris contributes to the Covid-19 findings

The novel coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on March 12th 2020. Since then, laboratories all around world are using Time-of-Flight (TOF) mass spectrometers to detect and analyze proteins that are unique to the Covid-19. Using these TOFMS instruments, laboratories work at delivering faster test results to confirm the presence or absence of Covid-19, as well as to find solution to quickly identify any future new virus epidemics.

The specific questions that can be answered by mass spectrometry instruments fall into three categories:

  • Provide molecular information of the Covid-19 in the human host
  • Understand how stable and infectious Covid-19 is on different surfaces (plastics, metals, etc..)
  • And ultimately contribute to develop drugs and vaccines

Acqiris develops high-performance signal acquisition (ADC) solutions that are designed-into a wide range of instruments and systems. Acqiris products are designed-into a range of ToF mass spectrometers and contribute to improving the TOFMS instruments in this very demanding Covid-19 measurement application. Acqiris is pleased to modestly contribute to the technology used by these laboratories and to help find quick responses and solutions to this exceptional situation.
