New SA1 8-bit signal acquisition solutions

Based on the new Acqiris 8-bit platform, the SA1 signal acquisition solutions provides fast waveform acquisition solutions with on-board real-time processing capability.

Based on fast data acquisition components (also named DAQ card, ADC card or digitizer), the new SA1 brings high signal performance and lower consumption in a reduced footprint. It offers an ideal data acquisition platform for many commercial, industrial and measurement embedded systems and is particularly suited for OEM’s applications requiring a reliable, stable and cost effective signal acquisition solution.

  • The SA108P enables 1 channels at 1 GS/s or 500 MS/s
  • The SA120P enables:
    – 2-ch at 1 GS/s or 500 MS/s
    – 1-ch at up to 2 GS/s

Acqiris SA1 8-bit ADC cards implement a proprietary low noise and low distortion front-end, enabling excellent signal fidelity.

Both the SA120P and SA108P solutions features:

  • 8-bit resolution
  • DC up to 500 MHz bandwidth
  • DC coupled, 50 ohm input impedance
  • Multiple programmable full-scale ranges:

– standard voltage ranges: 250 mV, 500 mV, 1 V, 2.5 V and 5 V (selectable by software)
– small voltage ranges: 50 mV, 100 mV, 200 mV, 500 mV, and 1 V (selectable by software)

  • Programmable DC offset (+/- 0.6 x FSR)
  • PCIe Gen 3 interface

Featuring a large DDR memory for long acquisition time, the hardware also includes a Xilinx FPGA allowing implementation of custom real-time processing algorithms. Thanks to the PCIe Gen 3 interface, the card offers high data transfer rate and streaming capabilities to the host computer, at up to 6 GB/s.

More than a digitizer, the SA1 solution allows the synchronization of the system thanks to 3 programmable IOs and the ability to synthesize 3 synchronized output (pulse generation) for a tight instrument control.

The SA1 ADC cards are more compact than the previous generation of 8-bit digitizers and occupy a single full-length PCIe slot of the host computer. The consumption has also been reduced by half.

Real-time processing

Each SA1 ADC solution includes a digitizer firmware (-DGT) and additional firmware options are available:

  • The real-time sampling and averaging option (-AVG) that enables synchronous real-time sampling and accumulation up to 2 GS/s on a single-channel and 1 GS/s on dual-channel.
  • The streaming capability, with simultaneous acquisition and readout for successive triggered acquisition (TSR/CST) that is dedicated to applications requiring no trigger loss, achieving longer recording time when compared with standard digitizer.

System synchronization

Three programmable I/Os and three synchronized outputs are available for your system control and optimization.

Software

The SA1 ADC solutions come with Acqiris MD3 software driver (Windows or Linux) and includes a graphical user interface (Soft Front Panel) to capture and display the acquired data in time or frequency domain.
